Hi,
My name is George and I’m from Essex, England. I’ve lived in Sweden for almost six years. I work in Stockholm and write reports and emails in Swedish every day, but I feel that my Swedish has plateaued. I need help improving my writing so that I can be more independent in my work.”
George already had a high level of Swedish, B2–C1, when he started. Over approximately 30 hours, we worked on text production and how George could adapt grammar and style depending on the recipient, for example the difference between writing a short email and a report.
We focused a lot on helping George feel confident using verb forms such as the passive voice and past participles. As an acoustic consultant, George works with designing and improving sound environments in everything from residential buildings to industrial spaces and concert halls. Because of this, we also spent time on placement verbs, such as sätta, ställa, and lägga, as well as descriptions of location and direction, such as norra, norrifrån, and nord.
In addition to grammar books such as Form i fokus and George’s own writing, we also worked with the material Arkitektsvenska.
